Located in Yunnan’s Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Honghe Butterfly Valley is having its annual "butterfly explosion". Millions of butterflies emerge from their cocoons, forming a rare ecological spectacle. Recently, a staff recorded Stichophthalma louisa's transition from a larva to a butterfly.
Stichophthalma louisa’s chrysalis is emerald, which looks like a jade pendant hanging on the leaf. After a couple of days, the baby butterfly emerges from the chrysalis and turns into a beautiful butterfly.
According to the observation, about 150 million larvae will turn into butterflies in a month, which will form a stunning spectacle.
