On June 3, the Shangri-La Horse Racing Festival officially kicked off at Shangri-La Yalaso Racecourse in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. On that day, there were more than 8 million views on the Internet, and people all over the country enjoyed a lively feast during the Dragon Boat Festival.
on the event venue, the riders presented superb equestrian performances. The horses galloped by like meteors, and the riders stretched themselves on the horses. The wonderful horsemanship impressed the audience online and offline.
“Shangri-La is well-known in the world with its infinite charm. In this flourish June, the Horse Racing Festival kicked off as expected.” Gao Xiang, party secretary and director of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Culture and Tourism Bureau, said.
The traditional Horse Racing Festival is one of the major annual festivals in Shangri-La. It is also the traditional ethnic race with the longest history in Shangri-La and the most popular Dragon Boat Festival activity among the people. Up to now, the Horse Racing Festival has become a platform for carrying forward and inheriting Shangri-La’s culture, displaying unique folk customs and beautiful natural scenery.
Diqing intangible cultural heritage exhibition area was specially set up at the venue, gathering ethnic cultures and customs. Exquisite horse harness, fragrant barley wine, fine Nixi black pottery, pure Tibetan incense and other unique Diqing products were displayed, showing the rich resource of intangible cultural heritage, as well as the important achievements of the deep integration of culture and tourism of Diqing.
