After the Laba Festival comes the Spring Festival. Citizens in Kunming begin to stock up for the upcoming new year.

At Shijijinyuan shopping mall, the journalist found that many people were shopping for new year goods along the 100-meter-long shopping street, and some citizens were sampling candies in a candy shop. There are various candies like walnut slice, peanut candies, swelled candy rice, etc. "Considering consumer's different tastes, we specially made low-sugar candies," the shop owner said, "We sold 100 kg to 150 kg of candies every day on average over the past three days."

Family dinner on New Year's Eve is one of the most important parts of the Spring Festival. In order to have a good luck, many restaurants put their minds on giving some good meaning to their menu. A restaurant in Kunming priced their different set meals at 666 yuan, 888 yuan, 999 yuan and 1299 yuan. These numbers are all auspicious in Chinese. Names of these dishes also have good meanings. A stuff of the restaurant said that Chinese cabbage means forever, and sweet dumplings means reunion.
