COVID-19 Vaccines Open to Foreigners at Age 3 and Above in Kunming since December 24

Two rounds of COVID-19 vaccination services had been arranged before for foreigners at the age of 18 and above who live in Kunming. In accordance with the requirements of the central and provincial governments for unified epidemic prevention and control, and in order to meet the demands of foreigners in Kunming, the vaccination services now open to foreigners at the age of 3 and above who are willing to be vaccinated. Below is some information for the services.

I. Is there any age limits?

Foreigners at age 3 and above, studying or residing in Kunming and meeting the conditions for vaccination are eligible for vaccination.

II. What kind of vaccines will be given?

Domestically-developed inactivated COVID-19 vaccines are used currently in Kunming. Two doses are required for the entire vaccination process, with an internal of 21 days.

III. How can I make an appointment for vaccination?

1. Foreigners in Kunming can make an appointment for vaccination through the following channels: international students should file an application via their schools. After the list of students needing vaccination is made, the schools will make a group appointment with the designated hospital based on the list. Other foreigners should consult and make an appointment with the designated hospital by themselves.

IV. What is the schedule of vaccination for foreigners?

First shot: December 24-25, 2021 (09:00 - 17:00);

Second shot: January 21-22, 2022 (09:00 - 17:00).

V. What documents should be provided?

Foreigners need to provide their valid IDs when making an appointment for vaccination. Please present your Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card of the People’s Republic of China or passport and valid stay/residence permit at the vaccination site. Those who have been covered by medical insurance plan should bring a valid medical insurance participation certificate (Social Security Card) and a photocopy of the Social Security Card. Please make sure that the relevant documents are valid on the date of vaccination.

VI. What documents should be signed?

When visiting the designated hospital, foreigners aged between 3 and 17 must be accompanied by their guardians and take protective measures. Before receiving the vaccination, do inform the medical staff of your own physical conditions. The medical staff will then determine if you are eligible for vaccination. If yes, you need to sign the Informed Consent and the Letter of Commitment. For juveniles at the age of 8 and above, the two documents should be signed by themselves and their guardians. For juvenile under 8 years old, the documents should be signed by their guardians.

VII. Do I need to pay for the vaccination?

Foreigners who have been covered by China’s social security and medical insurance plan will receive vaccination free of charge by presenting their medical insurance participation certificate (Social Security Card) at the vaccination site. Those who have not should bear the cost of 100 yuan/dose (including vaccine fee and vaccination service fee), and cash payment in RMB only.

VIII. What care should I take after the vaccine shots?

After receiving the vaccine shot, you need to stay in the observation area for 30 minutes at the vaccination site and may only leave when there is no sign of discomfort. If you have severely adverse symptoms after vaccination, please seek for medical attention and report to the designated hospital immediately.

IX. How do I get the vaccination certificate?

After the vaccination is completed, you may request the vaccination certificate from the staff of the designated hospital.
