Yunnan snub-nosed monkey is categorized as the rare and endangered wildlife endemic to China. The monkeys inhabit in the region of three parallel rivers in Northwest Yunnan listed in the natural heritage in the world.

In Baima Snow Mountain National Reserve of northwest Yunnan's Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, a group of guardians are working hard to protect the monkeys. They traveled several miles every day to patrol in the forest and conquered many difficulties in the wild. Years by years they get well along with monkeys. It is unbelievable that they can even recognize each monkey's identity and call their name.

Thanks to these guardians, the population of snub-nosed monkeys increased from over 1000 in 13 groups in 1996 to over 3300 in 23 groups now.
