Spring Festival is the most important festival for Chinese people. During the vacation, many people in Kunming stuck to their posts instead of reunited with family to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
How did Kunming people spend the Spring Festival?
“My parents and I watched three movies at a time.” “We visited the bookstore in 1903 park.” “My family went to Laoyuhe Park.” According to Alipay data, cinemas, parks and bookstores were all popular for people in Kunming during the festival. Even the consumption of bookstores ranked third in the country.
More and more young people who stay at work tried to give their new year’s greetings online. A man who stayed in Kunming sent a bunch of flowers attached with greetings to his mother in Qingdao. Elders were also more likely to give red envelopes online. The number of red envelopes given by elderly people over 60 has increased by 210 percent, according to Alipay data.
In addition, local tours were widely favored during the week-long Spring Festival holiday. On the fifth day of the Chinese New Year, peonies and tulips were in full bloom at Daguan Park in Kunming. Many citizens and tourists came and enjoyed the flowers, went boating and fed black-headed gulls.
In Anning City, cole flowers became the most beautiful scenery in spring. Tourists could ride horses, donkeys, bicycles and sheep carts through the yellow cole flower fields, and could pick or buy a basket of strawberry in the beginning of spring as strawberry is mature in succession.
For those who love extreme sports, Dahaicaoshan in Qujing is a nice place to go. During the Spring Festival, self-drive tours to there were popular, and the ski resort was the most popular. It was officially opened to the public in December 2018, with the area of 120,000 square meters, making it the first alpine ski resort in Yunnan. According to the staff, it is open from mid-November to March of the next year, the average daily temperature in winter ranges from 5 to 15 degree centigrade. There were 1,300 to 1,800 visitors every day during this Spring Festival holiday.
