Southwest China's Yunnan Province plans to build itself into a national clean-energy base, local authorities said Wednesday.
By 2025, the province's installed electricity capacity is expected to reach 130 million kilowatts, with green power accounting for more than 86 percent of the total, Zhou Minxin, deputy director of the provincial development and reform commission, told a press briefing.
Yunnan will push forward the construction of mega hydropower projects like Wudongde, Baihetan, and Tuoba on the Jinsha and Lancang rivers, Zhou said.
The province will also speed up construction of a wind power project providing 8 million kilowatts of energy and a photovoltaic power project providing 3 million kilowatts of energy, Zhou noted.
