During the past National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Dianchi Lake in Kunming, Yunnan province, which has abundant tourism resources, was favored by the masses of citizens and tourists. 

“I read from many travel guides that Dianchi Lake is the first choice when travelling in Kunming,” Qiu Lin, a tourist from Guiyang, said. “There are lots of famous natural beautiful scenery, cultural landscape, historical relics and theme parks around Dianchi Lake.”

For most visitors, the 3,000-metre long Dianchi Dam is the first stop on a trip to Kunming. They can overlook the Sleepy Beauty of West Mountain, view the white sails near by and take photos with family and friends. “My children can also learn some history of Kunming from the landscape sculpture on Dianchi Dam,” tourist Li lei said. 

According to the workers of Dianchi Dam, more than 10,000 people visited the dam every day during the past 8-day holiday. The daytime of it was lively and its nights decorated by lights were attractive to tourists too. 

Some citizens chose to run and cycle around Dianchi Lake in the holiday. On October 2th, dozens of runners ran along it under the leadership of the famous explorer Jin Feibao. One day after that, Dong Wei who is a cycling enthusiast completed a cycle around Dianchi Lake with three of his friends. “We’re quite happy in the 10-hour cycling, during which we not only viewed the beautiful scenery, but also enjoyed a variety of snacks,” he said. 

Wetland parks near Dianchi Lake, such as Laoyuhe Wetland Park, Haidong Wetland Park, Xihua Wetland Park and Dounan Wetland Park, were also popular during this holiday. It was common to see children happily playing with water and making sandcastles on the beach.   

“The scenery of Kunming is charming and people here are hospitable and warm-hearted,” lady Weng said with a big smile. 

“Kunming is not far from Chengdu and come here by high-speed train is really convenient. I’ll come here again with my family in the near future,” Han Lei said. He and his family had visited Stone Forest Scenic, Jiuxiang village in Yiliang county, Yunnan Wildlife Park and Anning city  during the golden week. 

“I thought Kunming World Horticultural Expo Garden might be overcrowded, but in fact it is in good order due to the stipulate that Individual visitors must make an appointment 24 hours in advance,” Liu Li, a visitor from Changde city, Hunan province, praised.
