The proposals of Union Accord Part III submitted to the fourth meeting of the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference were approved at the 20th Meeting of Myanmar's Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) held in capital Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday, a senior official told the press conference.
"The proposals of Union Accord Part III that is to be signed on the last day of Union Peace Conference were approved at today's UPDJC meeting," said U Zaw Htay, spokesperson of President's Office.
At the meeting, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, in her capacity as chair of National Reconciliation and Peace Center, said internal peace can be achieved with a real federal union for the country.
"National equality is also necessary for national unity. We have already understood all of this which is the goal for all of us and the dream for all ethnic people," she said.
It was learned that the Union Accord Part III which includes three parts relating to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NA) implementation, post-election activities and basic federal principles will be signed on the last day of the fourth meeting of the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference.
The peace conference was held in August 2016, May 2017 and July 2018, respectively.
A total of 51 federal-related basic principles have been adopted into the union accord after the third conference.
Ten ethnic armed organizations have signed the NCA with the government since it was initiated in October 2015.
