Philippine capital city to remain under general community quarantine until June 30

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte late Monday night extended until June 30 the general community quarantine in capital city of Metro Manila amid the continued spike in COVID-19 infections in the country.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that Duterte also placed Cebu City in the central Philippines under enhanced community quarantine starting June 16.

Under general community quarantine, transport system in Metro Manila will be allowed to operate at a reduced capacity. Buses, train, maritime and aviation will be allowed to operate provided that social distancing is observed.

Essential works, both in government and private, will also be allowed but limited.

The Philippines now has 26,420 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,098 deaths and 6,252 recoveries.
