The Brunei Darussalam National Boat Race Association (PERKEBAR) announced that in cooperation with the Youth and Sports Department, it will host a boat race championship on January 19, 2020 at the country's Serasa Water Sports Complex.

According to local daily the Borneo Bulletin on Wednesday, the championship is open to associations, clubs, teams, ministries, government departments, colleges, higher education institutions and local private companies.

The President of PERKEBAR Haji Haris said that the championship is an annual project of PERKEBAR with the objectives to maintain the tradition of boat racing at all levels and as a platform for boat racing enthusiasts to participate in.

According to him, potential talents will be absorbed into the national team to represent the country at national, regional and international events.
