[InKunming--Yunnan] On Oct.1, the Chengjiang Fossil Site Natural Museum opened for a trail run to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Chengjiang’s fossils present the most complete record of an early Cambrian marine community with exceptionally preserved biota. The fossil site is China’s first and the only world heritage of paleontological fossil in Asia. In order to display the scientific value of fossils, the Chengjiang Fossil Site Natural Museum began to built in 2014.
With an estimated total investment of 630 million yuan, the project took 5 years and 8 months to complete, and it will looks like a “cradle of life”. The museum will open in three stages. The first stage was opened on October 1 for scholars and researchers and asked them for more opinions to perfect the museum. The second stage will be for reporters and news media, while the third will officially for the public.
Apart from displaying fossils and animal specimens, the museum will uses digital media technology to build it as a science education and tourism base.
