[InKunming--Yunnan] More than 20 Asian elephants enjoyed bananas, apples and carrots fed by volunteers at the Wild Elephant Valley scenic spot in Yunnan’s Xishuangbanna on August 12, the World Elephant Day.

Xishuangbanna Asian Elephant Conservation Association and other organizations plan to carry out an activity for Asian elephant to help with rescue, breeding, habitat construction and scientific research.

The organizers also held a photography exhibition about Asian elephant and a lecture for Asian elephant conservation. Volunteers and staffs of nature reserve went to the Asian elephant base to plant elephant grass. Furthermore, experts and scholars were also invited to discuss the new path and direction for Asian elephant conservation in the future. (Photos provided by Xinhua/Yang Zongyou)
