[InKunming--Yunnan] Mao Zhu, a giant panda, will turn 5 on July 26, 2019. A five-year-old panda is equivalent of an adult human being who is around 18 years old. To celebrate the most special “18th” birthday, Yunnan Wildlife Park has recruited nearly 15 young little fans of panda to prepare an unusual party for Mao Zhu.  

Staff of the park and the 15 kids put on panda headgear and clothes, and enter the living area of the pandas. Their jobs are cleaning the venues, preparing bamboos and making a birthday cake. To increase the amount of exercise of pandas, the park has designed a simulated place in which bamboos are inserted into the soil to look like they grows in the forest. 

In addition to bamboos and bamboo shots, apples and steamed corn breads are also added into panda’s daily diet, according to the staff. More ingredients can offer different flavors and balanced nutrition. The special steamed corn breads contain corn flour, calcium powder and peanut oil to ensure pandas get enough energy. 

Pandas especially like cold food. Kids will also prepare a frozen cake which is designed to cool the pandas off from the hot summer. They mix carrots, apples and peaches together to make a cool ice birthday cake for Mao Zhu.
