[InKunming--Yunnan] A herringbone bridge, built in 1908, was marked as an engineering marvel in Yunnan. It is a part of Yunnan-Vietnam railway that helped transport goods and people in the last century, and was listed as one of the state key cultural relics protection unit in 2006.
It was designed by a French female engineer in 1907, and then was built from 1907 to 1908. The bridge, located in Pingbian county, was completely constructed by steel boards with steel angles and rivets.
It owns a span of 67 meters that connects cliffs between two mountains, having an altitude of 100 meters from the bottom of the valley. Its difficulty for construction left a historical and remarkable record in Yunnan’s construction industry, regarded as an engineering marvel in Yunnan.
