[InKunming--Yunnan] On May 16, a number of well-known Yunnan cuisine enterprises with their highly recommended dishes debut at the Asian food festival, which is a supporting part of the Conference of Dialogue of Asian Civilizations (CDAD).
The Asian food festival is held from May 16 to 22 in the Olympic park. The main venue has eight themed pavilions, covering different aspects and types of Asian food, such as pastry, cold dish, snack, drink, time-honored brand, etc..
Dozens of catering enterprises from Yunnan appear at the festival for the first time, and exhibit Yunnan’s classic dishes and green ingredients to the world, attracting a lot of attention of guests from home and abroad. Mr. Lin, a Chinese from Cambodia, told that there is a growing number of Chinese restaurants in Cambodia. “It is good to have Yunnan enterprises at the exhibition. I do like Yunnan cuisine and dessert.” Mr. Lin said.
Yang Aijun, the president of Yunnan Food and Beverage Industry Association, indicated that Yunnan cuisine is actually very popular in Australia. Some characteristics, such as green and unique taste, are in line with the foreigners’ needs of consumption.
Yunnan cuisine is the representative element of Yunnan culture, and sometimes is regarded as a different “ambassador” between different cultures. This festival is of great significance for promoting the popularity and influence of Yunnan cuisine outside the province and overseas.
