Weishan food fete in Yunnan’s Dali to kick off on Mar. 12

[InKunming--YunnanFrom March 12 to 18, the China Yi Nationality Ancestor Worship Festival and the 9th China Dali Weishan Snack Festival will be held in Weishan, a famous historical and cultural city in China’s Dali. This year’s festival will include 22 kinds of local food and the most popular snacks that won awards on previous festivals.

On the main street in Weishan ancient town, more than 200 small bamboo tables will be laid out which can be used for nearly 1,400 people to eat at the same time. Each table will be filled with 15 kinds of natural, fresh and delicious food. This is a vegetarian banquet with 15 dishes, all of which are made of local vegetables, fruits, wild mushrooms, tofu and other ingredients. Before the banquet, there will be suona performance, yi folk songs toast performance and other welcomed activities.

While tasting those special snacks, visitors can also enjoy ethnic culture performances, visit historical villages, hang out at calligraphy exhibition and admire bonsai art.

After thousands of years, Weishan food has fully absorbed and integrated diverse cultures, forming a highly personalized local food style. There are nearly a hundred kinds of snacks in this festival, including soup pot, barbecue, rice cake, sweet dumplings, dessert, pickles, rice noodles, etc..

Weishan food are loved by more and more food lovers at home and abroad, and its reputation is spreading widely. The 1st Weishan Food Festival successfully created a Guinness World Record of a 1704-meter noodle, and the 6th food festival set a record of a largest bowl of Parou Ersi (a kind of rice noodle) with 1.96-meter width and 0.9-meter height.
