[InKunming--Kunming] Twice a day on March 4, Kunming appeared on two CCTV programs, Beautiful China and Morning News. The former gave aerial shots about Tanglangchuan cole flower fields in Anning, Kunming, and the latter reported 40,000 black-headed gulls in Kunming are about to return their home in Siberia.
Tanglangchuan river is the only outlet of Dianchi lake in Kunming. It flows into Jinsha river after winding for 255km. Every February and March, the cole flowers on both sides of Tanglangchuan river come into full bloom attracting numerous visitors.
In recent years, the local take the advantage of beautiful pastoral scenery, developing sightseeing agriculture which brought the village nearly ten million yuan of income.
Last year, rural tourism in Yunnan province received 250 million tourists, realizing a total revenue of more than 200 billion yuan. In February this year, Yunnan province proposed to implement the demonstration action of building beautiful villages, which will become a new highlight of farmers’ income and Yunnan’s tourism.
Another CCTV program Morning News covered that over 40,000 black-headed gulls in Kunming will fly back to their home in Siberia in March. At Cuihu Park in Kunming, the weight of black-headed gulls have grown obviously since arriving in Kunming in early November last year. The lightest one weighed just over 100 grams last year, while nearly half the gulls weigh more than 300 grams now.
Most gulls have darker red beaks and red toes, and their head feathers have turned black, which marks the sexual maturity of these birds. They will return to Siberia to breed and back to Kunming again in October.
