[InKunming--Kunming] Pable Neruda once said, “I want to do with you what spring does with cherry trees.” In this pink season of spring, it is romantic to admire petals of cherry blossoms falling slowly from trees with your beloved. Thousands of blooming cherry trees are waiting for you in Kunming Zoo.
The 20th Kunming Cherry Blossom Festival and the 5th Yunnan Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition jointly kicked off at Kunming Yuantong Mountain Zoo on March 1st. The best time to catch blooming cherry blossom is around Women’s Day, and the cherry trees will reach blooming peak on March 16.
At the same time, hall crabapple has been in full bloom, decorating the main avenue into a sea of pink flowers. Some locals indicated that the flowering period of cherry trees delayed comparing with last year. They expect a riotous bloom around mid-March. There are more than 5,000 cherry blossoms and hall crabapple in the zoo according to staff. If visitors come on March 16, they will meet double blossom seasons for these two pink flowers.
Furthermore, the intangible cultural heritage exhibition is also a big attraction during the cherry blossom festival. Variety of intangible cultural heritages and local cuisine are to be displayed, such as paper cuttings, cucurbit carving painting, tie-dye, dough modelling, bamboo weaving, sugar painting, er’kuai, douhua rice noodles, Yiliang roast duck, etc..
