[InKunming--Sister Cities] Yunnan is close to Southeast Asia. The unique geographical location attracts lots of self-driving enthusiasts to travel here. The departure ceremony of China-Thailand Friendship Caravan organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand kicked off in Kunming on February 24. 

A total of 22 cars composed of people from Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai tourists and Chinese-Thai media set off from Kunming and drove to Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture. They will pass through Kunming, Guiyang, Zhenyuan, Xijiang, Kaili and Qujing from February 24 to March 1.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, the Governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand.  

“The event aims at strengthening Thai-Chinese relations and promote culture and tourism between the two countries. It can also help build cooperation and trust between tourists from both sides to further develop tourism.”Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn said, the Governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand.

The Consul General of Royal Thai Consulate General in Kunming. 

“With the increasing exchanges between China and Thailand, more and more Chinese tourists are going to travel in Thailand. The number of visitors from Yunnan to Thailand last year reached 600,000.”the Consul General of Royal Thai Consulate General in Kunming said at the departure ceremony. She also pointed out that Yunnan is the nearest province in China to Thailand. There are various means of transportation tourists can choose. They welcome more visitors from Yunnan to travel in Thailand in the future.  

Among the transnational self-driving routes, the Kunman(Kunming to Bangkok) Highway is considered to be the best. For self-driving tourists, they can not only admire natural scenery of Xishuangbanna, but also experience exotic scenes of Laos and Thailand.
