[InKunming--Yunnan] The 2019 ethnic costume culture festival officially kicked off in Chuxiong, Yunnan on February 19. Along with roaring drums and suonas (a woodwind instrument), thousands of Yi, Lisu, Dai, Miao and other ethnic groups from across Yunnan gathered here to celebrate the festival.

On the 15th day of the first lunar month every year, the local from Zhiju village of Chuxiong spontaneously organize a grand festival of ethnic costume, which has been passed down for more than 1,350 years and is known as the oldest rural runway show in China and even the world. Numerous domestic and foreign tourists come to admire the festival because of the increasing influence.

This year’s festival aims to celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. There are Yi fine costumes performance, bonfire party, Yi embroidery contest, strawberry festival and other exciting activities.
