[InKunming--Kunming] Jinning is one district of Kunming, located at the southwest of Dianchi Lake which is the largest freshwater lake in Yunnan Province. Jinning is an emerging tourist destination, and famous as the Capital of Ancient Dian and the Hometown of Zheng He.

Jinning is the origin area of Dian (abbreviation of Yunnan) culture. The Gold Seal of King Dian was excavated in Shangsuan town Jinning district, which was the capital of Ancient Dian Kingdom. The Gold Seal is regarded as a symbol of Ancient Dian. Ancient Dian was a minority tribe in Southwest China, which existed from the late Spring and Autumn period until the Eastern Han dynasty (278 B.C. to 109 B.C. ).

The literal meaning of Jinning is peaceful and harmony. It was the birthplace of Zheng He, who was a voyager and diplomatist in Ming dynasty. He was famous as the leader of the Ming treasure voyages, which were the seven maritime expeditions by Ming China's treasure fleet between 1405 and 1433. The grand project resulted in seven far-reaching ocean voyages to the coastal territories and islands in and around the South China Sea, the Indian Ocean, and beyond.

The spirit of Zheng He is widely promoted in Jinning, which to be interpreted as "Dare to be the first and struggle to be the best ". In the current context of comprehensively advancing the "Reform and Opening-up" and "One Belt and One Road" initiative, Zheng He culture is an important carrier for Yunnan integrating into the national initiative. 

In order to propagandize Zheng He spirit, Zheng He international culture and tourism festival has been held consecutive years in Jinning. There are Zheng He Park, Zheng He culture square, Zheng He world navigation stamps exhibition hall, Zheng He museum and other cultural sites built in Jinning.

Colorful Yunnan • Ancient Dian

As an emerging tourist destination in Yunnan, "Colorful Yunnan • Ancient Dian" is an integrated project. It is to develop Ancient Dian culture, protect and repair environment. The project involves culture, sightseeing and resort, to attract tourists from South Asia, southeast Asia and around the world.
