[InKunming--Yunnan] There is such a dreamlike place in Luoping, Qujing, Yunnan, just like the fairyland described in Journey to the West. Thousands of wild and mischievous macaques live deep in the mountains. Rising wind and scudding clouds make the place more mysterious and magnificent.
In autumn and winter, these naughty macaques go downhill for foraging due to the wild fruits gradually decreasing. The local provide them with food every day, which protects the surrounding crops from these macaques.
Jiuwuji yi nationality township, located in mountains, is the only one yi village under the jurisdiction of Qujing. Good ecological environment and beautiful scenery attract thousands of wild animal living here. The number of them has grown from 20 to 2,000 during decade.
One of the tourists who has ever been to the monkey valley said, “it is the nearest place to observe wild macaques from Kunming!” According to a villager, there are more than 200 macaques every day. They normally come to the field in groups and steal some corns. As the winter coming, these smart macaques will wait for feeding. They boldly pick up the apples and bananas, and sit on stones or branches to enjoy their meal.
At present, Wanfeng mountains nature reserve has become an ecological home of karst landform, a typical area of biodiversity. In addition to the first and second class wild plants which are national key protection, there are also 23 special protected wild animals. These precious natural wealth will make Wanfeng mountains a shining pearl of Qujing, promoting the development of its economy and tourism.
