[InKunming--Yunnan] In addition to snow mountain, ancient city, Lugu lake and flower field, Lijiang has a place where you can admire the unpredictable starry sky with innumerable stars and awe-inspiring galaxy view.
With high visibility, good observation conditions, wide vision and fresh air, and without city lights and dust, the Lijiang Astronomical Observation Station of Yunnan Observatory is regarded as a stargazing paradise for amateur stargazers. Furthermore, low latitude, high altitude, good atmospheric tranquility, 250 sunny days a year and weak brightness of sky also contribute to better astronomical observation conditions.
It is the best time to have a wonderful star gazing from October to April next year, and it is able to see the Milky Way, Big Dipper, Orion, Cat’s Eye Nebula, etc.. Find a ideal grassland and lie down, you can see meteor shot across the sky with naked eyes.
“In October, many people come to the observatory and the villages nearby to pitch their tents. Stars here are brighter than those above Lijiang city.” One of the villagers said.
It is introduced that the amateur stargazers are not allowed to enter the observatory, but can go to Gaomei village where is 40 kilometers away from Lijiang city. The local dishes are worthy to try and have become a highlight of the stargazing tour, such as potato chicken.
