Fifth China-South Asia Expo and Twenty-fifth Kunming Fair officially opens

[InKunming--Kunming]  In the morning of June 14th, the 5th China-South Asia Expo and the 25th China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair officially opens. Meanwhile, the 1st China-South Asia Cooperation Forum also raises its curtain.

The expo holds 19 exhibition halls with around 8,500 booths, making it the biggest CSA Expo yet. Exhibitors from 86 countries and regions attend the expo. Among them, exhibitors from the Netherland, Denmark, Kyrghyzstan and Syria made their debut in the expo.

Featured exhibition halls focuses on areas including advanced manufacturing, food and consumer goods, health products and medicine, agricultural products unique to Yunnan’s plateau region, and tourism, according to Gao Shuxun, member of the Yunnan CPC committee and director of the China-South Asia Expo Executive Committee.

Exhibition zones is established for the country of honor Afghanistan and the guest country Myanmar during the expo. More than 40 percent of enterprises attending are from overseas, which shows that the expo serves as an exhibition platform for companies from China, South Asia and around the world, said Gao.

A series of events will be held simultaneously with the expo, including the 25th China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair, the 13th China-South Asia Business Forum, the Yunnan-South Asia and Southeast Asia Education Cooperation Forum, and the 3rd Yunnan Conference on International Exchange of Professionals.   

The expo aims to create a new platform between China and the South Asian region for political dialogue, trade and investment, people-to-people exchange and experience sharing, said Ma Jun, deputy director of Yunnan Foreign Affairs Office. 

"The expo does not only serve as a new platform for international cooperation, especially for cooperation between China and South Asia, but will also serve to form new international relations and build a community with shared future for mankind," said Ma, adding that it is important to further open China's southwest region as this year marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up.
