[InKunming--Kunming] There is an old saying in Kunming, "San Yue San, Shua Xi Shan", which means having an spring outing in West Mountain on the third day of the third lunar month. On April 18, more than ten thousand people came to West Mountain, took a hiking and admired flowers to celebrate this Kunming’s folk traditional festival.

The festival has been continuing for many years. This year, the West Mountain cultural center prepared a splendid exhibition of the intangible cultural heritage to tourists. A lot of activities provided the public with a jubilant atmosphere, such as sugar-figure blowing, dough modelling, cucurbit flute playing, kite making and so on. A group of dough works reflect the production life of Bai people, with vivid facial expressions and clothing patterns.

Chamahuajie, as Kunming West Mountain national scenic spot, is worth going for foodies. There are many local snacks, like cool rice noodle, bean jelly, potato pie, stinky tofu, mutton rice noodle, beef soup pot, etc. In Huating Temple and Yulan Garden, the colorful ethnic folk culture, such as Yunnan opera and national songs, which are spontaneously organized by the locals, fully embodies the unique charm of this “San Yue San” festival.

More than 120,000 people went to West Mountain on April 18, which is 30% higher than the last year’s due to the operation of subway line 3, according to statistics.
