[InKunming--Kunming] “We rescued 20 pet dogs from Xiaobanqiao Wholesale Market and hope they can be found by original owners.” a veterinarian working in a pet hospital said.

A vet was doing physical check to a golden retriever at the Oriental Animal Hospital. Seeing people coming, the dog wagged its tail cheerfully.

It is said that there are 6 Chinese rural dogs, 5 German shepherds, 2 golden retrievers, 2 labradors, 1 Alaskan malamute, 1 Kunming dog, 1 Husky, 1 Bulldog and 1 Belgian Malinois. Several dogs became instantly on the alert when strangers walked around.

The dean of the hospital introduced that a member of animal protection center who lost his dog went to Xiaobanqiao Wholesale Market to see if he could find it. Although he did not find his dog, accidentally met the fact that 20 pet dogs were caged to wait for death.

As a result, he sent a message to the Wechat group of animal protection center. All the members were shocked and voluntarily raised 10,000 rmb to buy those dogs. Then they rent a car to carry dogs to the hospital. After physical examination, vets pointed out that all the dogs are healthy and they should be pet dogs instead of stray dogs. One of the bulldogs might just give birth a puppy or stop breastfeeding.

“What we can do is to help them do physical checks and to provide them with a temporary safe harbor. We really hope that original owners can come and find their ‘child’, or else some kind people can adopt them.” he dean of the hospital said.
