5 highly recommended snacks in Yuxi, just take a bite

[InKunming--Yunnan] Yuxi is a beautiful city where civil life moves slower than metropolises. Walking through streets and alleys, you may be surprised by its cuisines hidden in small restaurants. Some of the restaurants are too narrow to allow more than one person to walk through. The food there has its unique characteristics which are regarded as civil taste.







Cold rice noodles

Many people would rather queue for a long time in summer eating a bowl of cold rice noodles. The key to make it is the refreshing and sour seasoning.

The restaurant owners elaborately explore a delicious seasoning which includes fried minced meat made of fat and thin meat, golden baked sesame seed, the proportioned ginger and garlic water, and the most essential chili oil and sweet soy sauce.




Iced porridge

As one of the top 10 snacks in Yuxi, the most delicious iced porridge is made by Chef Guo. Besides the using of local ingredients, he cooks with water which is taken from a century-old well, making the porridge different from the ordinary ones from the taste.







Baked tofu

The recipe of the tofu in Yuxi differs from other places’ because of the sweet chili sauce made from sweet soy sauce and mixed chili instead of using fermented bean curd sauce. The sweetness riches the taste of tofu, but not makes people feel “the sauce is better than the fish”.







Dai cold dish

There is a snack bar selling Dai cold dishes, known as “Suanduoduo”. All the dishes are cold, and some of them are pickled to make the food more tasty.

The distinctive feature of this store is that it cooks many unusual ingredients into cold dish. For instance, the cold cattle stomach is one of the most welcomed dish, often in short supply. The crisp taste of the cattle stomach with a strong and spicy flavor makes you want to eat it again.







Pickle

There are a lot of choices, such as pickled cucumbers, radishes, and pears, giving you a cool summer.
