[InKunming--Kunming] When spring comes, Kunming Yuantong Zoo is already immersed in a profusion of flower. It is the blooming peak of Chinese flowering crabapple and cherry blossom. Beautiful flowers decorate both sides of roads and enable visitors to enjoy an attractive spring scenery.
There are over 5,000 crabapple and cherry blossom in the zoo. “These two kinds of flowers will bloom at the same time, and the next two weeks will be the best time to admire them,” an employee from the zoo introduced.
During the blooming period, the 19th Kunming Cherry blossom Festival, which is also known as the 4th Yuantong Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition of Cherry blossom, will be held from March 7th to April 7th at Kunming Yuantong Zoo.
Last year, the scene of blooming cherry blossom in Yuantong Zoo was officially listed as an intangible cultural heritage. This year, under the theme of “enjoy pleasant spring breeze as cherry blossom fluttering down”, there will be various exciting events to show visitors the history and folk culture of the festival, such as cherry blossom walking, having a close look at baby lions, and tasting 15 kinds of delicious food from home and abroad.
Not only the newly-born quintuplets of lions, visitors will have the chance to feed giraffe, Asian elephant, and peacock every Saturday morning. Yuantong international circus will perform wonderful shows during the festival as well.
