1st Hekou Seafood Festival to held during the Chinese New Year

[InKunming--Yunnan] The 1st seafood festival will be held in Hekou county from February 18 (three days after the Spring Festival) to February 25. There will be plenty of activities offering to citizens, such as seafood cooking competition, local snacks tasting activity, looking for the best seafood stall, local ethnic cuisine tasting and so on.

According to Gu Shaoyong, the deputy director of the Tourism Development Committee of Hekou county, the seafood festival will promote the level of seafood market and local flavors market in Hekou. It is a good chance to propagate food culture, and to form a good reputation which encourages people to buy and eat seafood in Hekou.

The seafood festival will be held in Beishan international commercial area, Hekou county. It will enhance the popularity of Hekou by taking the advantage of frontier minority culture, and empower the festival gradually becoming an international event which is influential and distinctive.

As of November 2017, the transaction volume of border trade in Hekou were 430,000 tons with 3.707 billion yuan among which the sea products took 30,000 tons reaching 1.59 billion yuan. The main marine products include lobster, fresh crab, fresh abalone, frozen abalone, frozen lobster, frozen hairtail, etc. A large number of foreigners from Vietnam or other countries visited and stayed in Hekou everyday, contributing to more than three million visitors annually. These advantages will facilitate the development of seafood industry, local flavors industry and other aspects.
