[InKunming--Yunnan] Hani women, living in Panayang Village, Pu’er City, Yunnan Province, are masters of cooking and burning wild foods.
To burn wild foods that are packaged in natural leaves of Japanese bananas is a kind of cooking method for Hani nationality, especially for Hani women.
The women would like to burn fish, shrimps, chicken, bees with some vegetables by the Japanese banana’s leaves.
They would directly put the leaves on fire for cooking. Wild meat with vegetables will be seasoned with some special condiments.
After burning in the leaves, the foods normally tastes delicate, savoury, sour and spicy. Broiled meat throws off an alluring fragrance of banana leaves.
People who have had the foods would not forget the foods’ special flavours.
For Hani women, they have handed down such a cooking way for over hundreds of years. All of them are masters of cooking wild foods.
Wild foods, picked from brooks or trees, are the most natural and original foods. Until now, some of Hani people in Yunnan still keep their primitive way of living, awaiting visitors to explore.
