[InKunming--Yunnan] The Lancang-Mekong International Vocational Institute Foundation Laying & Construction Ceremony took place in Dehong Autonomous Prefecture on December 17th.

Lancang-Mekong International Vocational Institute is a public higher undergraduate vocational college and is also a secondary school of Yunnan Minzu University, founded by Yunnan Minzu University and Ruili city government. It will focus on cultivating high-quality talents who are related to the economic and social development needs of Lancang-Mekong area. The institute will highlight international, border and application-oriented characteristics, with the application of education which includes the undergraduate education and junior education at home and abroad, and non-educational training, etc.

Lancang-Mekong International Vocational Institute will build the China-ASEAN Education and Training Center, Lancang-Mekong International Professional Institute, Lancang-Mekong Alliance of Vocational Education, Lancang-Mekong Institute of Vocational Education and Industrial Development, Lancang-Mekong Institute of Industry and Education, and Lancang-Mekong vocational education base.

It is reported that the construction of the institute and the alliance are included in the list of important outcomes of second council of foreign ministers of the Lancang-Mekong cooperation, and it is also one of the key tasks of the 11 educational tasks in Yunnan province in 2017.

The delegates attending the ceremony include Foreign Ministry Asian Affairs Lancang-Mekong Cooperation China Secretariat, the committee of China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, the consulate general of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, Ruili government, Yunnan Minzu University, Myanmar Muse district government, and representative of enterprises.
