[InKunming--Kunming] The 4th Nobel Economists Summit of China was held on June 25 in Kunming. Two Nobel laureates in economics, scholars, government officials, and entrepreneurs from South and Southeast Asia, China attended the summit.
Over 300 attendees joined in the summit to discuss about a topic "Regional Cooperation between China and South, Southeast Asia". Yunnan, as a gateway to South and Southeast Asia, shall better develop on suggestions of Nobel laureates, scholars, government officials and entrepreneurs from different countries.
Eric Maskin, 2007 Nobel laureate in economics, suggested Yunnan to protect its natural resources, keep favorable environment and develop economy at the same time. Edmund Phelps, 2006 Nobel laureate in economics, advised Yunnan to spur development of innovation in the locality.
Somsavat Lengsavad, former deputy prime minister of the government of Laos, also shared his opinions with attending guests at the summit. He thought that to promote regional cooperation between China(Yunnan) and South, Southeast Asia, bilateral parties shall fully trust each other. Take for an example, Lao government believe in Chinese government, so that China helps Laos to construct many infrastructure projects in his country.
Other overseas and domestic government officials, scholars, entrepreneurs also gave their suggestions on “Regional Cooperation between China and South, Southeast Asia” during the summit.
Luo Zhengfu, chairman of Yunnan Provincial CPPCC(Chinese People's Political consultative Conference) Committee summarized at the end of the summit. He emphasized: "No matter what suggestions our Yunnan government and Yunnan people got from the summit, the most important thing is that we should turn thoughts into actions, to propel regional cooperation between China and South, Southeast Asia at wider sphere, higher and deeper level."
