[InKunming--Kunming]  Kunming and Dianzhong New Area co-held an industrial promotion meeting on March 1 in Beijing to implement the national development strategy and promote Kunming’s industrial transformation and upgrading.

In order to boost the “Belt and Road” initiative and bring Kunming's superiority into full play, the promotion meeting, co-hosted by the People’s Government of Kunming Municipality, the Administrative Committee of Dianzhong New Area and other institutions, focused on integrating the city into the national development strategy and accelerating itsdevelopment as a regional international city. At the meeting, projects from key industries, such as infrastructure, headquarters economy, advanced manufacturing, biological medicine, electronic information and real estate, were pitched to potential investors and partners.

Kunming is the capital and largest city in Yunnan Province, Southwest China. Today it is a prefecture-level city and the political, economic, communications and cultural center of the province as well as the seat of the provincial government. To become a powerful force in the“Belt and Road” initiative and drive economic development in the central area of Yunnan, Kunming is trying to turn itself into a regional international city.

The Dianzhong New Area was officially established in 2015, approved by the State Council. Located in Kunming, it is viewed as a new urbanization comprehensive experimental area and a first-to-go area of reform and innovation in West China.

The promotion meeting, involving 120 domestic and foreign enterprises in Beijing, implies unprecedented opportunities. A series of strategic cooperation agreements between the Kunming government, the Dianzhong New Area and enterprises were signed at the meeting.
