[InKunming--China]  In latest years, more and more Chinese students study abroad. Among Chinese students who choose to study in Thailand, 80% of the students are from Yunnan, data counted up by Thailand.

At present, Chiang Mai University, which is a research-oriented university located in north of Thailand Chiang Mai, has set up close relations with several universities in Yunnan.

Chiang Mai University, communicates frequently with Yunnan University, Yunnan Normal University, and Kunming University of Science and Technology in Yunnan, and also communicates with some universities in Sichuan and Zhejiang.

In recent years, Chiang Mai University, often exchanges students, teachers, and organizes academic discussions with these universities from Yunnan and the universities from Sichuan, Zhengjiang.

Due to cooperation between Yunnan Normal University and Chiang Mai University, a Confucius Institute was set up in Chiang Mai University. Besides, Chiang Mai university established two test training centers in Kunming, to recruit Yunnan students who plan to apply majors of Thai Language, Cross-cultural communication in English, Software Engineering, and Modern Information Technology Management.

Until now, more and more Chinese students especially Yunnan students would like to study abroad in Thailand, since Yunnan and Thailand have some similarities.

From ancient times to nowadays, economic and trade contact, and cultural exchange between Yunnan and Thailand had never been stopped. “Chinese people and Thai people are as close as brothers and sisters. It is a very popular saying that prevails Thailand,” said a Chinese professor named Ma Chi, who has taught in Chiang Mai University for 10 years.
