Honghe Bridge on Kunming-Bangkok Highway [Xinhua]
[InKunming--Yunnan] The 12th Thailand Logistics Equipment, Technologies and Services Exhibition will be held from September 2 to 4 in BITEC International Convention and Exhibition Center, Bangkok, Thailand, Royal Thai Consulate General in Kunming released in a news press on July 15.
Wang Shuangen, Commercial Counselor of Commercial Service Department of Royal Thai Consulate General in Kunming, on the news press spoke that Yunnan has become a junction joint on logistics road of ASEAN region. Yunnan’s logistics industry develops in a diversified direction when it connects with Southeastern Asian and Southern Asian countries.
Till now, Yunnan owns four transnational highways and seven highways in the province. Yunnan is considered to be a hub in China's western region to connect with Southeastern Asian and Southern Asian countries. Kunming, capital city of Yunnan Province, plays an important role on logistics channel of ASEAN region.
"With constant improvement of infrastructure construction, and a breakthrough of Kunming-Bangkok Highway, transportation situation between China and Thailand has been changed. By Kunming-Bangkok Highway, Yunnan becomes the first gate for Thailand to enter China." Wang Shuangen said.
Li Juhui, deputy director of Kunming International Society for Logistics and Finance, also said that Yunnan is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges under the background of China's national strategy "One Belt and One Road".
It is predicted that a railway among eight municipalities and provinces in China, and four railways to foreign countries will be constructed in Yunnan in 2020. The to-be-built railways are to become important transportation corridors between Yunnan and ASEAN region in future.
Both international and domestic specialists believe that by air transportation, land transportation and water transportation, trade, investment, tourism and other fields' contacts between Yunnan and ASEAN region shall get more frequent.
A member of Thailand International Freight Forwarders Association said prospect for cooperation in logistics industry between China and Thailand is very wide. If two countries make good use of Kunming-Bangkok Highway now, China and Thailand will realize economic growth together.
