[InKunming--Kunming]  From a river that runs through Chenggong district in Kunming, a sound that sounds like baby's cry always comes out. The crying sound always frightened citizens who lived nearby the river in the past.No one knows what the sound came from.

On a recent day, a bold citizen came near to the river when the crying sound went up again, to have a look what on earth the sound came from. To his surprise, the citizen found a giant animal that was making baby's crying sounds crawl in the river.

The citizen with a surname of Wang called policemen to examine the animal. With black skin, the giant animal is nearly one meter long, and weighs over six kilograms.It has four legs on its body.

After the policemen examined and confirmed, they pointed out that the giant animal is in deed a giant salamander. The giant salamander which is listed as a kind of protected rare wild animals in protection level 2 in China mostly live in brooks and streams from Yangtze River, Yellow River and Zhujiang River.

It was the first time that Kunming citizens found a giant salamander live in a river of Chenggong district. Whether the salamander was freed by citizens of the city or was a wild animal originating from the river is still under investigation by Kunming policemen.

Right now, the giant salamander had been sent to Yunnan Provincial Wild Animal Rescue Center, to have a better living environment.
