[InKunming--Kunming] Tonight is the Christmas Eve. Many stores and shopping malls in Kunming have been decorated with different kinds of Christmas trees and ornaments. Christmas is in the air.
Christmas Day is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed most commonly on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world.
Popular modern customs of Christmas Day include gift giving, completing an Advent calendar, Christmas music and caroling, an exchange of Christmas cards, church services, a special meal, and the display of various Christmas decorations.
Because gift-giving and many other aspects of the Christmas festival involve heightened economic activity, the holiday has become a significant event and a key sales period for retailers and businesses. The economic impact of Christmas is a factor that has grown steadily over the past few centuries in many regions of the world.
In Kunming, people are used to gather in urban areas of the city to celebrate the festival. Therefore, several roads, such as Jinbi Road, Shulin Road, etc., in urban Kunming are about to be under traffic control tonight and tomorrow night from 19:00 to 24:00. Buses passing by these roads will also adjust their routes and stops during the period.
Police also remind that people who are about to celebrate in urban Kunming should pay much attention to their safety.
