[InKunming--Kunming]  The first expressway connecting China and Vietnam, Hanoi- Lao Cai Expressway, was officially opened to traffic on September 21, 2014. An open ceremony was held in Lao Cai in Vietnam on that day.

Its openness also marked that the capital city of Southwest China’s Yunnan Province Kunming and the capital of Vietnam Hanoi was connected by expressway in the whole course, which stretches over a length of 650 kilometers. Henceforth, the driving time from Hanoi to Lao Cai was shortened from 11 hours to 3 hours, and the driving time between Kunming and Hanoi was shortened to 8 hours.

Hanoi-Lao Cai Expressway was started construction from 2009, with an investment of 1.46 billion U.S. dollars. It is the first international expressway connecting Vietnam and China, as well as the expressway which has the longest mileage and the biggest investment in Vietnam.
