[InKunming--Yunnan] In Wumeng Mountain (乌蒙山), near Zhenxiong County (镇雄县), Zhaotong city (昭通市), Yunnan province, exists a kind of violet stone, known as purple sandstone, which contains a lot of granular sands in the stone and has natural ventilation function.
Local artists use this kind of stone material to make tea wares, such as tea tables, tea pots, tea trays, tea cups, tea jars, tea favors, tea washes, and so on. These tea wares that made of purple sandstones in Yunnan, adding a richer connotation for Chinese tea culture, are becoming more and more popular in market.
Artists polish and carve purple sandstones, and make them into different models of artworks by hands. The purple sandstone artworks, glittering elegant purplish grey color and have fine decorative carving patterns, have high value for collection.
