[InKunming--Yunnan]  The traditional Tibetan Zhuanshan Festival fell on August 10, which is used to be celebrated on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month according to Chinese lunar calendar. Over a thousand full-dress Tibetan and tourists from all around the world celebrated the festival together in Shika Snow Mountain (石卡雪山) in Shangri-la, Yunnan.

A worship ritual was started from 10:00 in Shika Snow Mountain at an elevation of nearly 4,500 meters. At first, all attended people stood in silent tribute for 3 minutes to mourn for victims in the quake which happened in Luduian County on August 3. Then, Living Buddha and eminent monks chanted sutras to pray for all living creatures.The festival has been celebrated for over 1,300 years.

Shika Snow Mountain is only 7 kilometers away from Shangri-la County. Local residents said the mountain is the embodiment of pureness, goodness and happiness. According to Tibetan tradition, Shika Snow Mountain is a holy mountain that can bring bless and good luck to local residents.

In order to inherit profound Tibetan historical culture, the festival will be regularly celebrated in Shika Snow Mountain every year.

Besides, a theme park will be built in Lanshan Valley of Shika Snow Mountain. The park is aimed at providing a fictitious land of peace for tourists. Snow mountain, lakes, forests, meadow, karst caves are distributed in the park. Tourists can not only enjoy beautiful natural sceneries in the park, but also admire profound Tibetan culture there.
