[InKunming--Living in Kunming] French photography exhibition, Paris-Beijing French Focus on China, 1844-2014, is to be held at Kunming Municipal Museum from May 11 to 30, according to Consulate General of the Republic of France in Chengdu, and Kunming municipal government.
To mark cultural communication and interaction between China and France, and celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations, the exhibition is organized and is planned to be displayed in 5 cities in China.
Kunming is the second station for the exhibition. 250 old photos taken by French people about Chinese scenes since 1844 will be on show in the exhibition.
24 photos took by Auguste Francois about Kunming's scenes will be shown in the exhibition, too. Auguste Francois is a French diplomat and photographer who lived in Kunming for a long time in last century.
It is said that some precious photos taken by Henry Cattier Bresson and other French photographers will be presented to the public for the first time in China.
French photographers' views about China, which have transformed from a closed and mysterious world to an energetic and modern society, are expressed in the exhibition.
Mr. Olivier Vaysset, Consul-general of Consulate General of the Republic of France in Chengdu, and Ms. Luo Lansi, cultural attaché of the consulate, will attend the launching ceremony of the exhibition.
