[InKunming--Interviews Polls]  On March 13, Tina Redshaw, the British consul-general in Chongqing, met with Yunnan press in Kunming. As a chief representative for recommending "British Week in Kunming" activity which is planned to be held in April, she accepted the press’s interview and told her story that is related to Kunming and Yunnan.

"I love Yunnan. I love Yunnan very much," Tina said in Chinese. When pronouncing the word "Yunnan", Tina’s facial expression became very vivid.

According to her memory for Yunnan 30 years ago, Yunnan, and also Kunming, had changed a lot in their infrastructures. "Buildings in the city become taller. More and more international brands came into the city. Many places which I was familiar with in the city vanished. What’s more, road traffic seems to be more jammed than what I saw 30 years ago in Kunming. The traffic jam may be the biggest change I could feel compared to the past time."

She also referred to her another story she experienced in Dali."I met a local artist in Dali. The man was good at carving stones. He asked us about the translation of Santandaoying(三塔倒影), a famous scenery that could be seen in Dali. We told him the Chinese words Santadaoying(三塔倒影) could be translated as ‘Three Pagodas Mirror’in English. And then, the artist also invited me to write down the English name of the scenery in English letters by using the most formal English writing way." Tina hoped her English letters could be adopted by the artist and were carved on a stone tablet in the Three Pagodas scenic spot, and wished she could come back to Dali to check the carving one day in not longer time.

Except for beautiful sceneries of Yunnan that attracted Tina, she disclosed that as for tea drinking, she loves Yunnan’s black tea, such as Pu’er tea very much. "I drank Yunnan black tea not only in Chongqing, but also in Beijing and in the U.K.,"she said happily.

The reason why Tina came to Kunming with her colleagues this time is because they wanted to promote their activity "British Week in Kunming", which is to be held from April 15 to 19.

The activity "British Week" is to be arranged for the first time in south-western region of China since British Consulate-General in Chongqing was established in the year of 2000. Kunming is set to be the first station for the consulate-general to promote the activity within the south-western region, which includes Chengdu, Chongqing, Guiyang, and Kunming.

It is said that within the activity organized in next month, events covering various fields between Kunming and British involve education, culture, business, etc.. "Wish the activity can strengthen cooperation between Kunming and British, and widen more collaborative areas for the two parties," Tina claimed.

"British companies such as Willis, Logan Teleflex, Dadi.KKL, Finlays had invested in Kunming before. More British companies will publicize their products in Kunming next month,"a staffer of British Consulate-General in Chongqing introduced.

The staffer said Britain also welcomed more and more Yunnan’s enterprises could consider investing in the U.K. after they presented general investment environment of the Britain to them in April.
