[InKunming--Living in Kunming] In January, 1983, Kunming Photographers Association, was established with cooperation of Kunming Publicity Department and Kunming Literature and Art Federation.

From 1896 to 1949 in last century, foreigners like Auguste Francois, the consul-general of France in Kunming, Bai Ti(Chinese name of an American man), a soldier of Flying Tiger Team in Kunming, Clinton C. Millett, a doctor of Medicine to aid Kunming, Paul Bochel, a war correspondent of America, and Dr. Charles D. Drisscoll, an American surgeon to aid China during the anti-Japanese war period, successively photoed Kunming.

Chinese photographers who recorded images of Kunming before 1949 in the last century include Yang Chunzhou(杨春洲），a pioneer in Yunnan's photography circle, Du Tianrong（杜天荣），Sun Shixi(孙时熙），and Yang Changfu(杨长福），also the chairman of Kunming Photographers Association.

And during the past 30 years, more and more people join in the group for photoing Kunming. They witnessed the city's earth-shaking changes and citizens' lives in the past decades of years with cameras.

Although photography only came into being less than 170 years, it developed by leaps and bounds. Members of Kunming Photographers Association also grew very quickly from a start of 30 people to over 1,800 people at the present. Since each precious and memorable historical image was kept by those foreign and Chinese photographers mentioned above, Kunming could be seen in different periods over the past 100 years.

Nowadays, important images about Kunming's development in the past 30 years had been collected into a brochure, which was produced by Kunming Photographers Association. Photography buffs, local citizens who love the city deeply could consider collecting the brochure.
