Dongsi Street is a bustling street in southern half of Kunming. It is popular owning to the full-bodied flavor of old Kunming.
The street is 1,100 meters long, connecting Jinbi Road and South Ring Road. Dongsi Street was named after two nearby temples, the Dadong Temple(also called the Juezhao Temple) and the Xiaodong Temple(also called the Changle Temple). Unfortunately, the temples are no longer in existence now.
In many aged residents' memories, Dongsi Street was used to be packed with stalls of farm products.
Many alleys stretch from the streets, such as Jingde Alley, Shanqing Alley, Shiqiao Alley, etc. Among them, Xisi Alley is the most famous one. Xisi Alley, in the length of 178 meters, connects Dongsi Street and Banba Bridge.
