Trade between Yunnan and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region were rising quickly in the past three quarters this year according to a survey published by Kunming Customs lately.
According to statistics, Yunnan exported goods worth 3.73 billion US dollars to ASEAN in the first three quarters, rising 46.4% of the same period of last year. In comparison, the province imported goods of 2.77 billion US dollars from the region in the three quarters, rising 23.8% from the data shown last year. The trade surplus reached 960 million US dollars, expanding 2.1 times as it was in the same period last year.
In the three quarters, Malaysia and Thailand became main trade partners to Yunnan. The trades with the two countries respectively achieved 1.03 billion US dollars and 0.7 billion US dollars, increasing 45.8% and 43.9% from last year.
Myanmar and Yunnan achieved 2.35 billion US dollars in bilateral trade, growing 46.8% from last year. Trade volumes between Myanmar and Yunnan topped all others among trade relations of Yunnan and ASEAN region.
Kunming Customs pointed out that local private enterprises were leading forces for promoting trades between Yunnan and ASEAN region. In the three quarters, the import and export of the private enterprises in Yunnan reached 5.45 billion US dollars with ASEAN, occupying 83.9% of total trade volumes between Yunnan and ASEAN countries.
Of all exported goods, mechanical and electrical products belonged to the export products with the largest volume to ASEAN region from Yunnan. Agricultural products, textile, electric power were other export product kinds that were also most exported to the region.
