A new airport is expected to be built at the end of next year in Zhaotong City, northeastern Yunnan, according to a news brief on October 26.
The new airport is under the public focus now. Approved by the government, the construction is expected to be started within next year.
A new 80-minute daily air route, Kunming--Zhaotong--Chongqing, has been launched on October 27. The outbound flight, MU5989, leaves Kunming at 11:50 and arrives in Zhaotong at 12:30. It departs from Zhaotong at 13:15 and arrives in Chongqing at 13:55. The return flight, MU5990, takes off from Chongqing at 14:45 and arrives in Zhaotong at 15:30, then leaves Zhaotong at 16:15 and arrives in Kunming at 17.
The total route takes about 125 minutes, including 80 minutes’ airborne hours and 45 minutes for transitting.
The discounted tickets excluding the airport departure tax and fuel charge will be offered from Kunming to Zhaotong at a price of 100 yuan and from Zhaotong to Chongqing at the price of 120 yuan. (Editors:Lynn, Tracy)
