6th 'Chinese Bridge' language competition to kick off in Kunming

The sixth "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign High School Students will be held from October 24 to November 3 in Kunming.

A total of 118 contestants from 62 different countries will showcase their Chinese language capacities, knowledge of Chinese culture, Chinese arts and talents during the 11-day competition.

It is the second time that Yunnan hosts the competition. Unlike the fifth competition, the event this time will add new participants from 18 countries including Vietnam and Georgia. Among them, there are 92 participants from Southeast Asia, accounting for 28 percent of the total contestants.

The "Chinese Bridge" competition was first organized in 2008 by the Confucius Institute. It aims to inspire students (non-native Chinese speakers) between 15 to 20 years old to learn Chinese and enhance their understanding of the Chinese culture. (Editors: Ryan Li, Tracy)
