Lao agricultural products permitted to enter Yunnan's market

Lao agricultural products, such as watermelon, banana and tapioca chips, are allowed to enter China's market through general trade.

According to the Yunnan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, three agreements were signed between the Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) of China and the Lao Forestry Department recently, which marked that Lao watermelon, banana and tapioca chips have officially passed the import inspection and quarantine in China.

China and Laos have strengthened their international cooperation on drug control in these years. By last year, over 1 million mu (about 67,000 hectares) of opium poppies had been replaced by other agricultural plants. Lao government is positively seeking opportunities to enlarge the export of agricultural products to Yunnan. (Editors: Tracy, Ryan Li)
