Ginkgo is considered the oldest tree species surviving on earth. There is an ancient gingko village in Tengchong County, a well-known historic and cultural city in Yunnan. Around 820 households live here.
According to statistics, there are more than 3000 ancient gingko trees in the village and at least 50 of them are over 500 years old. Besides, there are about 33,000 gingko trees at relativately young ages here, covering an area of 1000 mu (66.67 hectares).
Every autumn, the fan-shaped leaves of ginkgo trees turn a rich golden yellow, integrating with the light of the setting sun and decorating the village unique.
How to get there:
Flight: The daily direct flight from Kunming to Tengchong
Driving line: Kunming--Dali--Baoshan--Lujiangba (Expressway) Ruili--Yingjiang--Lianghe--Tengchong (Asphalt Road)
It is about 40 km from Tengchong to Gingko Village.
Best time for visiting: from October to November
